On Thursday night, the 8th grade boys basketball team went on a road trip to take on the Sheridan Blackhawks. The Huskies got off to a good start behind some hot shooting from Nolan Kakasuleff to take a 16 - 7 lead after the first period. The Blackhawks got hot in the second quarter, but the Dawgs kept making shots behind some good offense from Drew Champion and Cooper Hensley. At halftime, the Huskies had a 32 - 19 lead. The Dawgs made a defensive adjustment and came out in the third quarter on a 24 - 5 run to pull away. All 14 players contributed to the 61 - 35 win. The Huskies were led offensively by Vince Kakasuleff who hit 6 more three pointers tonight. For those counting, that's 12 three point field goals in the past two nights. Way to go Vince! Other key contributions were made by Nolan Kakasuleff who had a 10 point first quarter; Cooper Hensley and AJ Barrickman played their best game of the season. The Huskies will be back in action on Monday, January 12th against the Northwestern Tigers.
